I like the public library. My kids do too. We've enjoyed going to our small library here (FW, how I miss you!) to pick up books and DVDs for a change from the usual but our trip last week was exceptional. On our way out I noticed they had a couple of carts with books for sale on them FOR 10 CENTS EACH. They usually seem like such odd books but I decided to look them over a little closer. We are now the proud owners of Flat Stanley and Fancy Nancy: Bonjour Butterfly.
The Fancy Nancy book is way too cute! I've heard about them but hadn't seen any before. I really enjoy reading this one with Abby and quoting it with her throughout the day.
I normally would have just skipped over Flat Stanley or gotten it and put it away for a couple of years but Miss Thang already knows about him. This is a bonus for me because I probably would have bought it and then accidentally hidden it from myself and found it when she was a teenager. Early this Spring we hosted Stanley from Nevada and Abby loved talking about him and posing for pictures with him. The book is advanced for a 4-year-old, but she will happily sit and listen as long as you are willing to read.
The moral of this story is that I'm going to pay a lot closer attention to the books our library periodically removes from circulation!

When Andi taught 1st Grade they did Flat Stanley. One of her kids sent me his and we had a blast taking him all over Texas during spring break. I am glad Abby enjoys reading and books. Keep up the great work! I wish I loved books then as much as I do now. Love you guys...
