Abby's 3rd Birthday!

Last Wednesday we celebrated Abby's 3rd birthday!!! I can't believe she's 3 now - it is still strange to say she is 3 instead of 2. Anyway, we started the day off in style by all of us except Chuck and Caleb getting sick. I'll spare you all the details, although some of you reading this were among the sick. We considered pulling out the cart and shouting "bring out your dead!" but changed our minds since we were all basically better the next day. (Can you name the movie?) ANYWAY... Abby was simply delightful all day and didn't even realize there were presents to be opened until we told her. She enjoyed everything and we're thankful for everyone's kindness and generosity toward her.

For Abby's cake this year I attempted something new. Fondant. I bought a funfetti cake mix (only the best!) and then determined to try my hand at making marshmallow fondant from www.cakejournal.com. After almost talking myself out of it I decided I had nothing to lose with a tub of frosting sitting around for back-up. Abby chose the color and I took it from there with her supervision, of course! It was so so easy and turned out so yummy and cute! I'm hooked!

We had fun celebrating Abby's birthday throughout the week and I sure am thankful for that little cutie pie that the Lord blessed us with 3 years ago!

Pink marshmallow fondant - a little addicting.

Oh-so-proud birthday girl!

Mud puddle pie with Grammy. Gummy frogs in the shape of a face by artist Abby.

Sandbox! (the lid is half of the greatness!)

Fun new book called Pretend Soup And Other Real Recipes.

This was her big present from us - a picnic table. Caleb already likes it too.

I'll have to check out the fondant recipe. I've always wanted to try it but was afraid to!

We just bought Maggie that exact same table. Hope you had better luck than we did putting it together. We had to drill holes and go out and buy longer bolts, since the ones included were too short. Ya - funny times!

Happy Birthday Abby!

Oh man! Our table went together really well, at least it seemed that way to me. Chuck was the one putting it together! Ha!

You should so try the fondant! Very inexpensive, takes very little time, and is SO good! Plus you can make it any color(s) you want very easily! So fun!

Happy late birthday to Maggie! You guys are about to do some serious celebrating, huh?!
