This Is The Way The Garden Grows

We've been waiting, not so patiently, to get to work on our garden for this year. We're still more than likely going to have another freeze (gosh, I hope not!) but I decided to start anyway. I planted my seeds indoors to give us a little head start and transplanted some into the garden yesterday. This just in time for the gully-washer we got today. Better than a freeze though!

Chuck has worked really hard with his trusty garden helper (Abby) to get the weeds and grass cleared away from our berry bushes and plants. The blueberry, raspberry, and blackberry bushes are already full of new growth and we're hoping for them to do well this year. Only the blueberry bush did anything for us last year. That might have had something to do with the excessive heat plus full-term pregnancy combination which equaled going outside only to sit with my feet in the kiddie pool.

AND, yesterday when we were all out doing some work in the garden and playing in the sandbox we spotted a couple of blooms on our strawberry plants! Woo Hoo! There are going to be some excessively happy people around here when the garden really gets going.

(insert cute mental picture of Abby helping Chuck weed )
caption: Chuck is on his hands and knees and Abby crawls underneath him and parks herself there, also on her hands and knees, and pulls weeds also.
