To North Carolina And Back

A couple of weeks ago we all (and by "all" I mean my whole family) packed up and headed to North Carolina for my youngest sister's graduation. She's now a Master of Art History. Woo Hoo! The 4 of us, plus my parents, drove and found out that I have super-fantastic-trooper kids. Of course we suspected this, but it is now confirmed. Aunt Kim and Uncle Travis flew to NC and helped the rest of us decide that we are totally doing that next time! Ha ha! The drive was quite a haul considering we live 35 miles inside of Arkansas on the western side and we were headed east. Oh my. Good thing Chuck took the car to get tuned up before the trip and praise God it is still humming right along afterwards!

There were lots of fun new things to see along the way, including a rest stop we happened upon in TN with a mini aquarium. It also had a talking Elvis which may or may not have scared the living daylights out of Abby. :) Chuck finally got to see Shiloh Battlefield (evidently a must for any self-respecting History minor), we got an official tour of UNC (Chapel Hill, of course!), lots of good family time, a quick lunch visit with the Petro family whom we hadn't seen in almost 5 years, and a few highlights of the Smokies!

What a great trip! I wish we could have had more time with all 9 of us (how have we grown to 9?!?) just relaxing and enjoying each other, but we'll do that next time. Look out Thanksgiving, you're closer than you think! Anyway, here are a few pictures from my camera.

Abby and Mommy on the Appalachian Trail - it's only 1,972 miles.

At the top of Laurel Falls. So pretty!

It should probably be renamed "Abby Falls."
