A Little Place To Call My Own

I think this has been 2 1/2 years in the making, but we didn't really get serious about it until several months (or maybe a little more) ago. Whatever the case, it makes where we live feel a little more like "ours" and gives us a little space that is separate from everyone and everything else.

Last week while my parents were here for Caleb's first birthday, Dad and Chuck put up a privacy fence around our backyard. There was a short chain-link fence in great condition but we didn't care for it since our views out back include a storage unit facility and a gas station, in addition to being next door to the church. Normally, being next door to the church is okay but sometimes people come looking for help of some sort and it creeps me out when I'm alone with the little ones. Enter: plans for privacy fence.

Chuck spent the better part of 2 days taking down the existing fence in a way that it could be saved and re-used and then the guys spent the better part of 3 days constructing the new fence. It was a lot of hard work, many gallons of beverages were consumed, and now we have a fantastic new fence that gives us a place all to ourselves. And I'm so very thankful!

A big thanks to Dad and Chuck for doing all the manual labor and a big thanks to Mom for helping keep them hydrated and helping me entertain the kids.
