WHY?????

WHY is this most of what I hear during the day now?  Oh my word, I love the little girl whose mouth utters this word but my ears are sure thankful for naptime and bedtime.

I feel like I have so much to say about this because every time she says "why?" (which doesn't always seem like a question, but more of a declarative statement) I can think of so much and yet I don't even know what to say.  Ha!

One thing did occur to me recently and hit me again tonight - how in the world do people who don't believe in God survive this stage?  Example:  "Mommy, let's go ride bikes."  "Sorry, we can't.  It's raining outside."  "Why?"  "Because God wants it to rain right now."  This sort of statement usually stops further "whys" in their tracks and if not is quickly followed by "because He wants it to" which is certain to do the trick.  And, bonus, it is entirely truthful.

BOOYAH!

Hands down the most hilarious "why" incident occured on Saturday as Chuck was changing the oil on our car.  He called Abby over to see what he was doing because she and Caleb kept wandering over to make sure he was doing it right.  After pointing out to her what she should look at and telling her that what she was looking at was the old oil draining into the pan, the inquisitive child takes a good look at what is going on and...

"Daddy, why is the car going potty?"

I dare you to find something funnier to tell me than that!
